Pediatric Cardiology

Congenital cardiovascular (CV) malformations are one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in children and adults, however, it is not known how CV congenital malformations occur. Current pediatric research laboratories are studying the physiology and biomechanics of the development of CV systems in chicken and mouse embryos in order to better understand the structural and functional maturation of the heart and normal blood vessels and the causes of congenital heart disease.
